Speaking Engagement

On May 13, 2011, Bruce F. Smith, co-managing partner of Jager Smith, was a panelist at the 5th Annual Credit and Bankruptcy Symposium hosted by the Northeast and Connecticut Chapters of the Turnaround Management Association and the New York Institute of Credit. His presentation was titled "Personal Data Security in Massachusetts: Are You in Compliance?"

Jager Smith Introduces New United States Trustee

On April 6, 2011, Bruce F. Smith participated in a panel discussion with the newly appointed United States Trustee for Region 1, William Harrington. The event, which was sponsored by the Northeast Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, was moderated by Sheila Smith of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services. Also participating as panelists were John Fitzgerald, Deputy United States Trustee for Region 1, and William Baldiga of Brown Rudnick. The very lively discussion included topics such as the recent decision of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware in the Chapter 11 case of Universal Building Products, and issues relating to the formation and representation of unsecured creditors' committees in bankruptcy cases.

Lawyers Have Heart!

Jager Smith is pleased to announce that it will be fielding and sponsoring a team for the 4th Annual Lawyers Have Heart 5K Run, which will take place on June 9, 2011. The event, which raises funds for the American Heart Association, will take place along the waterfront in South Boston and will be followed by a celebration at the Bank of America Pavilion. Come out and support our runners and enjoy a fun afternoon.

Our Bankruptcy and Restructuring team has been selected to represent the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Chapter 11 case of UTGR, Inc. d/b/a Twin River. The case concerns a casino and greyhound racing track located in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and is the largest bankruptcy case ever filed in Rhode Island.
